Despite years of disuse, TWA Terminal at JFK Airport is New York City’s most spectacular example of mid-century modernism. Eero Saarinen built the terminal in 1962 in a time when air travel represented the promise of the future. Its gorgeous curved structure—innovative at the time, and still fresh to this day—is the opposite of what one expects from an airport experience, made all the more interesting thanks to the pops of colour throughout.
